Babel is an extension which allow users to display on their user page information about what languages they speak and understand.

Syntax

Babel can be added using the babel parser function. Multiple languages can be added using pipes.

produces

en-N This user has a native understanding of English. es-2 Esta persona tiene un conocimiento intermedio del español. fr-5 Cet utilisateur dispose de connaissances professionnelles en français. zh-0 这位用户不懂或很难理解中文。
Users by language

Languages and Levels

All MediaWiki languages are compatible with Babel and can be displayed using their language code. So en is English, es Spanish, jp Japanese, etc.

There are seven user levels:

Basic ability

Intermediate ability

Categories

Babel automatically adds you to the relevant language category. For example, adding sv-1 to your Babel adds you to both Category:Sv and Category:Sv-1. A full list of language categories to which users have been previously added can be found at Category:Users by language.
